General Questions

What is GEAPS?

The Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) is an international association that supports its members and the industry by serving as The Knowledge Resource for the world of grain handling and processing industry operations. GEAPS addresses the industry’s critical grain handling, storage and processing operations needs by providing the finest networking, professional development programs, and access to a global marketplace of equipment, services and technology solutions providers. GEAPS global network of industry professionals includes more than 2,800 individual members from about 1,150 companies.

What is the GEAPS Exchange?

The GEAPS Exchange is an annual International Technical Conference and Exposition. Each year thousands of attendees gather at the conference to learn about the latest topics affecting the industry and explore innovative new products and services in the Expo Hall. The location of the Exchange changes from year to year. Last year in Denver, Colorado the Exchange drew more than 2,800 attendees from 14 countries, and set records with 452 exhibitors in 290,000 square feet of exhibit space.

When and where is the convention?

GEAPS Exchange 2019 runs from Saturday, March 9 through Tuesday, March 12, 2019. It will be held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. The address is: 900 Convention Center Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70130

Who attends GEAPS Exchange?

Attendees come from all aspects of the grain industry, including suppliers and those in the grain handling and processing industry. Operations professionals include those directly engaged in grain handling, feed, milling and processing operations. Suppliers represent businesses or organizations that supply equipment, products or services to the grain handling, feed, milling and processing industries.

The annual conference also draws safety professionals, government officials and academia related to the industry. It is also an excellent opportunity for students seeking degrees related to grain handling, milling, feed and processing industries to make connections in the industry.

Why should I attend GEAPS Exchange?

GEAPS Exchange is the best place to learn about the industry, build your professional network and browse products and services. The educational program includes over 40 hours of education covering the latest trends and technologies in the industry. Special events give you an opportunity to network and reinforce existing relationships. The Expo Hall features over 350 exhibitors presenting their products and services.

What companies will be exhibiting at the Expo?

Over 350 companies have already signed up to exhibit at GEAPS Exchange 2019. View an interactive floorplan online to view a complete list of exhibitors. A list of exhibitors will also be available in the Exchange Mobile App, coming later this year.

Are non-exhibitors allowed to solicit business from attendees while at the Exchange?

No. If an attendee who is not officially representing any company showcasing in the Exchange exposition (a company registered as a trade-show exhibitor) is observed to be soliciting business from an attendee who is also not registered as a trade-show exhibitor, in the exposition hall or any other public space or facility under GEAPS’ Exchange show management, or in violation of any provision of this policy, that person will be asked to leave the facility or space immediately. Penalties may also be applied.

Observed violations should be reported to GEAPS’ Exposition Services Manager. GEAPS recognizes that “suitcasing” may also take the form of commercial activity conducted from a hotel guest room; a restaurant, club, or other public place of assembly over which GEAPS has no management control. This policy applies to only GEAPS’ events at venues including sites, facilities or portions of facilities under GEAPS show management to include any event, facility or space reserved by or for GEAPS.

What is the dress attire for the Exchange?

The suggested attire for all conference functions is business casual. Ties, suits and other business attire are also appropriate, but not necessary. The exception is the President’s Reception and Banquet held Tuesday evening, which is semi-formal (not black tie).

What are the social and networking events this year?

The Exchange is a great opportunity to network with your peers and build your professional network. Social events include:

  • NOLA Mixer: Saturday, March 9, 5:30 p.m.
  • Get-Acquainted Party: Saturday, March 9, 7 p.m.
  • Welcome Reception: Sunday, March 10, 4:30-6 p.m.
  • President’s Reception and Banquet: Tuesday, March 12, 5 p.m.

Can I bring a significant other/family member/friend/etc.?

Yes! GEAPS Exchange has a great companion program for those that are joining their spouses/partners and want to enjoy the host city. New Orleans offers fun options for tours and activities, and the 2019 Host Advisory Council has put together an exciting Companion Program this year. We offer base and full companion packages. All companions will have access to the Expo Hall.

If your companion does not wish to attend any tours or visit the Expo, they can feel free to explore New Orleans on their own. To plan their visit, they can start with Visit New Orleans!

Registration Questions

How do I register?

Registration for GEAPS Exchange 2019 is now open and will remain open until the Exchange begins.  Registering before February 7th will get you the best rates. View the flexible registration options here.

You may register online or by mailing in a registration form. Payments may be made by credit card or check. Attendees and booth workers all need to register.

How much does Exchange 2019 cost?

GEAPS offers a number of flexible registration options for Exchange. Full attendee registrations cost $890 for members and $1,250 for non-members if registered prior to February 7th. There are several more options for registration levels, including One-Day and Expo-Only registrations. Check out a complete list of registration options for members and non-members. Is there a discount on registration for GEAPS members?

Yes! GEAPS members receive a discount on most registrations. Check out the flexible registration options to find the registration option that works best for you. You can become a member of GEAPS when you register, and receive your discount right away!

What are the registration deadlines?

The early bird deadline is February 7th. If you miss this deadline you may still register anytime, up until the day of the Exchange or onsite. However, be sure to register early for the best rates!

Do I need to bring my registration information to the Exchange?

You will need to pick up your badge at the Registration Center in the convention center. Having your registration information will expedite the process, especially if you have your registration barcode. If you forget your registration information we can still look you up! Pre-registered attendees will have a separate line for picking up their badges.

The Registration Center hours are:

  • Saturday, March 9, 7:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, March 10, 6:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
  • Monday, March 11, 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 12, 7:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

The Registration Center is located in the lobby of the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center near Halls H-I-J.

Can I register onsite?

Yes, you can register onsite with a credit card or cash at the Registration Center located in the lobby of the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center near Halls H-I-J. We highly recommend registering beforehand as lines for onsite registration can get long. Register before February 7th to receive the best rates.

Hotel and Travel Questions

What hotels are contracted for the Exchange?

GEAPS has secured specially discounted rates at a selection of hotels surrounding the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. The official Exchange 2019 hotels include:

Which hotel is closest to the convention center?

All of our hotels are within walking distance of the convention center. However, the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center is large. Most hotels are along the north and northwest side of the building, while our convention will be held on the south side of the building.

The hotels range in distance of half a mile to just over a mile from the south side of the building. For this reason, this year we will have a shuttle circulating between our contracted hotels and the convention center for attendees.

What are the hotel rates?

GEAPS has secured specially discounted rates at a selection of hotels surrounding the convention center.

  • Hilton New Orleans Riverside: $251/standard; $261/view
  • Marriott New Orleans Downtown: $229
  • Hyatt Place New Orleans: $189
  • Hampton Inn and Suites: $190

These special rates are only available if you book within the GEAPS Room Block, through our hotel booking site.

How do I reserve a room?

Reserving a room is simple and fast! Visit our hotel information page for details and book online to reserve a room in the room block. If you have questions, please contact our housing management company, Experient, by email or phone at (800) 967-8852.

When is the deadline to book a room?

The cut-off for the GEAPS Exchange Room Block will be February 7th. After this date you will not be able to book a room in our block at our specially discounted rates. Please book early! For more hotel information for Exchange 2019, please visit our hotel information page.

What is the hotel cancellation policy?

Our cancellation deadline is January 25, 2019.  Any rooms cancelled after this date will be fined a $200 fee per reservation. Please also be aware of your specific hotel’s cancellation policies. For more information on Exchange hotels, visit our hotel information page.

I received an email or phone call to book a room. Is it spam?

Unfortunately, we have received reports of hotel scams. We do not call people offering hotel deals. Any emails you receive will have official GEAPS branding, as well as the logo of our housing management company, Experient.

For your safety, please only book through our housing link found on our hotel information page. If you receive a suspicious call or other communication please feel free to contact the GEAPS office at (763) 999-4300 for guidance on its validity.

Where do I park at the convention center?

Mobile App Questions

What is the Exchange Mobile App and how do I download it?

The Exchange Mobile App is a handy tool that puts every detail of the Exchange in your hands. The app includes an interactive floor plan where you can search by company, product, a list of exhibitors and details on education sessions and special events. Download it today from the Apple App Store or Google Play.

How do I search for exhibitors?

To search for exhibitors by name using the interactive floor plan:

Exhibitors are shown in two lists: “All Exhibitors” and “By Product Category.” Click on a product category to view a list of the exhibitors in that group.

To search for exhibitors by keyword:

You can search for exhibitors by typing a keyword in the search box at the top of the Exhibitor list screen. The results will include all exhibitors that have this keyword in their company name, profile, brands or product categories. Each exhibitor listing has their booth number(s) displayed below their name. An exhibitor listing may have a video icon which indicates that they have uploaded multimedia content.

How do I save an exhibitor to my favorites?

From the exhibitor list or any exhibitor’s eBooth profile, you can add the exhibitor as a favorite to your personalized planner by clicking on the star icon.

How do I see more information about an exhibitor?

Exhibitors have an eBooth profile, giving you information about their company and what they will be showing at the Exchange. You can visit the eBooth for any company by clicking on their name in the exhibitor list. You will see the company’s contact information, description, product categories and videos they have uploaded.

To play the video on your device, just click on the video. From this screen you can add the exhibitor as a favorite to your Personalized Planner by clicking on the star icon.

You can also view the location of their booth on the floor plan by clicking on the “Map it” button. The exhibitor’s booth will be highlighted on the floor plan.

Can I connect with exhibitors through the app?

Yes! You can send an email or request a meeting in the app from the company’s eBooth profile. 

To send an email, tap on the “notes” icon and type your message. Hit the “send” button when you’re done. 

To request a meeting, select “add meeting.” Select your preferred date and time, include a message and click “save” to send your request.

How do I view the interactive floor plan?

You can view the interactive floor plan online here or by clicking on the “Maps” icon in the app dashboard. The main map will highlight booths belonging to the exhibitors that you have added to your personalized planner. You can also view an exhibitor’s profile from the map view by clicking on their booth. How to find your location on the interactive floor plan:

  • Click on the “Locate Me” button at the bottom of the interactive floor plan.
  • Enter a nearby exhibitor’s name and then click “Search”
  • Click on the listed exhibitor’s name. A marker will appear on the map to indicate where you are currently located on the show floor.
How do I see what sessions are being offered on the app?

Tap on the “schedule” app icon in the app menu dashboard to view the complete list of sessions.

You can view the schedule by swiping left and right and scrolling up and down for sessions sorted by day and time.

Search for sessions by keyword using the search bar at the top of the screen.

How do I save a session?

There are two ways you can save a session:  

  1. When you see a session title that interests you, tap on the star icon next to that listing.
  2. From the session page, select “Add Session” to save it to your planner.

How do I manage my personalized planner?

From the app menu dashboard, select the “Planner” app icon. From here you can manage the lists of sessions and meetings that you have added to your Personalized Planner.

Saved Exhibitors

Click on “My Exhibitors” to see all your saved exhibitors listed in order by their booth number.

Saved Sessions and Meetings

Click on “My Itinerary” to see your schedule by day. This section will include all your saved sessions and the personal meetings you created in the mobile app.

Add Sessions to Mobile Device’s Calendar

From the session screen, select “Add to Device Calendar” to save the session in your device’s calendar.

Add a Personal Meeting

From the planner section, tap on the calendar icon at the bottom of the screen. Select your desired day and time and add any notes.

Remove a Saved Exhibitor or Saved Session

Tap on the star next to the company name or session title to remove the listing from your planner. 

How do I add or view My Notes?

From the app menu dashboard, select the “My Notes” app icon. You will see a list of your session and meeting notes.

To add a note, tap on the “pencil” icon on the bottom of the screen.

To edit one of  your notes, tap on the “folder” icon on the bottom of the screen to see more details.

To email the notes to yourself or a contact, tap on the arrow in the bottom left corner.

Who do I contact if I have other questions about the app?
