GEAPS Exchange Has Been Rescheduled For July 16-19, 2020
Our top priority is the health and safety of all attendees, exhibitors, staff and others involved in the conference.
March 13, 2020 UPDATE
In light of growing concerns over COVID-19 Coronavirus, GEAPS International Executive Committee has decided to postpone GEAPS Exchange 2020 until July 16-19 2020. It will still take place at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
The last 48 hours have been a time of rapid change. The Executive Committee has been following developments closely and decided that postponing our event would protect the health of attendees, exhibitors, staff and everyone else involved in the show. All events and meetings scheduled from March 21-24 in conjunction with Exchange 2020 are also being rescheduled.
We are still working through many details. Please be patient, we will keep you updated on what this means for booths, meetings and special events as we are able. Here’s what we know so far:
The new dates overlap with the scheduled dates for GEAPS Leadership, Education and Networking Workshop. GEAPS is working to assimilate workshop speakers into the new Exchange schedule.
For Exchange 2020 Attendees:
At this point, you do not need to cancel your registration. If you already cancelled your registration but would like to attend in July, your cancellation fee will be applied to your new registration.
Regarding hotel rooms within the GEAPS room block at the Hilton Minneapolis, Hyatt Regency or Millennium Hotel Minneapolis please do not cancel or change your reservation at this time. We are working through several contingencies with the room block.
If you have a hotel reservation outside of the GEAPS block at those hotels, you are responsible for cancelling your own hotel room.
For Exchange 2020 Exhibitors:
Every exhibitor who signed up for the original date will get the same size booth space that you originally reserved. GEAPS staff will be following up in the coming days to confirm your participation in the rescheduled event.
We are currently working through all the details involved with postponing the show. We will follow up with specific instructions for you as soon as possible.
Thank you for your commitment to GEAPS and Exchange 2020. We will follow up when more information is available. Please don’t hesitate to respond to this email or call GEAPS at (763) 999-4300 if you have any questions.
Who is at a Higher Risk for COVID-19?
According to the CDC: early information out of China, where COVID-19 first started, shows that some people are at higher risk of getting very sick from this illness. This includes:
- Older adults
- People who have serious chronic medical conditions like:
- Heart disease
- Lung disease
If you are at higher risk for serious illness from COVID-19 because of your age or because you have a serious long-term health problem, it is extra important for you to take actions to reduce your risk of getting sick with the disease.
Tips for Preventing the Spread of Disease:
Here are some ways you can protect your health at Exchange:
- Avoid physical contact – we advise against shaking hands. Consider adding an extra foot of empty space between yourself and others.
- Wash your hands regularly with warm water and soap.
- Avoid sharing food, drinks and eating utensils.
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when sneezing, coughing or blowing your nose.
- If you’re feeling sick, stay home
